Hunger Me Not was founded by Marivic "Jed" Vanover. Jed has over 29 years of nursing experience in acute and post-acute care including hospital Emergency Room, Progressive Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical departments as well as Rehabilitation, Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, and a Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Degree in Adult Gerontology Primary Care. She is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach with Dr. Eric Berg. She has completed training courses from Yale University and Edinburgh University.
Jed has worked as a primary care nurse practitioner treating patients in the hospital, rehabilitation centers as well as primary care clinics. This experience provided her opportunities to treat many individuals with various acute and chronic conditions. In 2021, she opened her own practice, Arches Primary Care, with a focus on internal medicine, offering quality, affordable and personalized telemedicine and house call visits. Through her practice, Jed continues to meet, assess, and treat adults with various chronic conditions.
With extensive experience in internal medicine, geriatrics, obesity management, diabetes, thyroid issues, chronic fatigue, depression and other chronic conditions, Jed realizes that modern medicine treatments are not always the answer to managing these conditions. Many of her patients complain of feeling tired when waking up, having low energy, and enduring weight issues. Jed understands there are effective ways to treat and manage these types of conditions other than by prescribing medications. She reminisces about her years of practice as a nurse in England, where she assisted health practitioners tailor treatments plans that included diet and nutrition, vitamins, and mineral supplements. Those patients typically had great outcomes, felt more energetic, lively, and took very minimal pills. Therefore, through her experience, Jed believes there’s much more she can do for her clients instead of having them rely on prescription medications. She is committed to helping people get better, feel better and stay healthy, and that’s why she decided to launch this Health and Wellness Coaching Center.
The outcome of incorporating diet and nutrition was a huge learning moment, with great results to my clients. This prompted me to do more research regarding the benefits of diet and nutrition, not only in managing chronic conditions but, most importantly, in keeping the client healthy and well. In an effort to take my health and wellness coaching experience to the next level, I got certified as a Health and Wellness Coach.
I also started asking friends and co-workers about their opinions regarding diet and nutrition. One friend said, “If you are going to starve me, I won’t do any diet. I love my donuts, cheese and fries.” Another said, “Do not take away my pasta, not my white rice, girlfriend!” The feedback I received was an eye opener. A lot of these people thought that “diet and nutrition” will make them hungry. And who wants to always be hungry? No One! Hence the name “Hunger Me Not” was born. With me as your health and wellness coach, you’ll get the benefits of improving your health and energy, looking and feeling young and vibrant and, most importantly, maintaining your overall wellness without being hungry!
